Ripplefold Draperies in Austin, TX
Ripplefold draperies hang from carriers on a track, which spaces the fabric into soft, even waves from top to bottom. They stack back tightly when open and glide smoothly when you close them.
Because the folds are uniform, ripplefold is the go-to for modern homes, tall windows, and offices. It's also the easiest drapery style to motorize.

How ripplefold draperies work
A ripplefold system has three parts: a slim track mounted to the ceiling or wall, carriers that glide inside the track, and drapery panels with snap tape sewn across the top. The carriers are set at a fixed spacing, so the fabric forms the same soft wave from one end of the window to the other.
Fullness controls how deep the waves are. We usually build ripplefold at 100% to 120% fullness, meaning the flat fabric is roughly twice the width of the track. You can open the panels by hand, with a baton (a slim wand), or with a motor hidden in the track.
Why we recommend them in Central Texas
Austin homes are full of tall living rooms, sliding doors, and wide windows, and ripplefold handles all of them without heavy rods or rings. It stacks back tightly when open, so you lose very little glass and very little view.
It's also the drapery we most often pair with a solar shade behind it: the shade handles afternoon heat and glare, and the drapery adds softness and full privacy at night.
Benefits
What you get with custom ripplefold draperies from ATX Blinds & Draperies.
Uniform waves
The fixed carrier spacing keeps every fold even, so the drapery looks tailored whether it's open or closed.
Tight stack-back
Panels gather into a compact stack, leaving more of the window uncovered.
Easy to motorize
The track is built for motors. Draperies can open on a schedule or from your phone.
Ceiling mounting
A ceiling-mounted track lets panels run floor to ceiling, which makes rooms feel taller.
Best for
- Modern and contemporary rooms

Options
- Ceiling or wall-mounted track
- Sheer, light filtering, or blackout fabric
- Lined or unlined
- Manual wand or motorized
- Smart hub for phone app and voice control, at home or away
Good to know
- Ripplefold needs a track, so it doesn't use decorative rods and finials. If you love a visible rod, pinch pleat may suit you better.
- Very heavy fabrics need the right track and carrier spacing. We size the system to the fabric during your consultation.
What affects the price
- Size of each window (wider and taller costs more)
- Fabric or material you choose
- Lift system: chain, cordless, or motorized
- Mounting hardware, cassettes, or tracks
- Number of windows (larger orders often price better per window)
- Specialty shapes and hard-to-reach installs

Ripplefold draperies: common questions
Have another question? Call (512) 751-8408.
What's the difference between ripplefold and pinch pleat?
Ripplefold makes continuous soft waves on a track for a modern look. Pinch pleat gathers fabric into tailored pleats at the top for a more classic look.
Can ripplefold draperies be motorized?
Yes. The track design makes ripplefold one of the easiest styles to motorize, and the motor can be hidden in the track.
How much fabric fullness do ripplefold draperies need?
Most ripplefold draperies are made at 100% to 120% fullness, roughly double the track width in flat fabric. More fullness gives deeper waves.
Can ripplefold be mounted to the ceiling?
Yes. Ceiling mounting is one of the most popular choices because it lets the panels run floor to ceiling and hides the track.
Are ripplefold draperies good for sliding glass doors?
Very. They glide easily, stack tightly to one side, and leave the door clear when open.
Can I add blackout lining to ripplefold?
Yes. Blackout lining works with ripplefold, and a ceiling track with a return to the wall reduces light at the edges.
Can I control motorized shades from my phone?
Yes. Add a smart hub and you can raise, lower, group, and schedule everything from an app on your phone, at home or away, and connect to popular voice assistants.
