Fixed Drapery Panels & Valances in Austin, TX
Fixed drapery panels and valances are decorative treatments that frame a window instead of covering it. The side panels stay in place and a matching valance or cornice finishes the top, so the window looks dressed and complete while your view stays wide open.
They're a favorite for picture windows, patio doors, and formal rooms where you love the view but want the window to look as finished as the rest of the room.

How fixed panels & valances work
Fixed panels are drapery panels that hang on each side of a window and stay in place. They're made to look full and tailored at all times, rather than to slide open and closed.
A valance or upholstered cornice runs across the top, hiding the hardware and tying the panels together. Together they frame the window like a picture, making it a design feature of the room.
Why we recommend them in Central Texas
Many Austin homes have big picture windows and patio doors facing great views, pools, or Hill Country landscapes. Covering them with full draperies hides what you love. Fixed panels and a valance give the window warmth, color, and height without blocking anything.
For sun and privacy, we pair them with a solar or zebra shade inside the frame, so you get a finished look plus real light control.
Benefits
What you get with custom fixed panels & valances from ATX Blinds & Draperies.
Keeps the view
The glass stays open, so you enjoy the view and daylight.
Finished, custom look
Panels and a valance make plain windows look designed and complete.
Adds height
Mounting the valance high makes ceilings and windows look taller.
Works with shades
Add a solar, roller, or zebra shade underneath for privacy and heat control.
Best for
- Picture windows with a great view
- Patio and sliding doors you use every day
- Formal living and dining rooms
- Windows that already have shades underneath
Options
- Flat, pleated, or shaped valances
- Upholstered cornice boxes
- Wide range of fabrics and textures
- Pair with roller, solar, or zebra shades for privacy
Good to know
- Fixed panels don't close, so they won't darken a room or add privacy on their own.
- If you want to close the drapes at night, choose operable draperies such as ripplefold or pinch pleat instead.

A few minutes now and then keeps them looking new.

Fixed panels & valances: common questions
Have another question? Call (512) 751-8408.
Do fixed panels open and close?
No. Fixed panels stay in place to frame the window. If you want privacy or light control too, we add a roller, solar, or zebra shade underneath.
What's the difference between a valance and a cornice?
A valance is a soft fabric treatment across the top of the window. A cornice is a firm, upholstered box. Both hide hardware and finish the top of the window.
Can I add fixed panels to windows that already have blinds or shades?
Yes. Fixed panels and a valance are often added over existing shades to make the window look finished.
Are fixed panels cheaper than full draperies?
Usually, because they use less fabric and simpler hardware than draperies that open and close across the whole window.
