Dual Roller Shades (Day & Night) in Austin, TX
Dual roller shades, also called day and night shades, combine two shades in one compact system: a solar or light filtering shade for daytime and a blackout shade for night.
Each layer works on its own, so you can have soft light and a view by day and full privacy and darkness after dark, without adding draperies.

How dual day & night shades work
A dual roller shade, also called a day and night shade, mounts two shades on one set of brackets: a light filtering or solar shade in front and a blackout shade behind (or the reverse). Each one operates on its own.
During the day, lower the solar or light filtering shade for glare control and a soft view. At night, lower the blackout shade for full privacy and darkness. Both can be motorized together on one remote.
Why we recommend them in Central Texas
Most rooms need two different things at two different times. Living rooms want daylight and view by day and privacy at night; bedrooms want soft light in the morning and total darkness after dark. A dual shade covers both in one clean install without adding draperies.
It's one of the most useful upgrades we install, and few local companies explain it well.

- They cost more than a single shade, but usually less than a shade plus custom draperies.
What affects the price
- Size of each window (wider and taller costs more)
- Fabric or material you choose
- Lift system: chain, cordless, or motorized
- Mounting hardware, cassettes, or tracks
- Number of windows (larger orders often price better per window)
- Specialty shapes and hard-to-reach installs

Our process
Consultations are available seven days a week.
Free consultation
We come to you with samples and look at every window, how it faces, and how the room is used.
Measure & quote
We measure every window precisely and send a written quote within 24 hours.
Professional install
We install, test, and clean up. Products are covered by manufacturer warranties.
Care & maintenance
A few minutes now and then keeps them looking new.
Dusting
Dust every few weeks with a microfiber cloth, a feather duster, or the soft brush on your vacuum set to low suction. Regular dusting keeps buildup from settling into the weave.
Spot cleaning
Blot small marks with a soft cloth dampened with water and a little mild soap. Blot, don't rub, and let the fabric dry fully before you raise the shade.
Everyday use
Raise and lower the shade with the chain, bottom bar, or motor, never by pulling on the fabric. If it starts rolling unevenly, call us and we'll adjust it.
Dual day & night shades: common questions
Have another question? Call (512) 751-8408.
Are dual shades worth it?
If a room needs both daytime light and nighttime darkness or privacy, a dual shade usually costs less and looks cleaner than a shade plus draperies.
What is a day and night roller shade?
It's two roller shades on one bracket: a solar or light filtering shade for daytime and a blackout shade for night, each operated separately.
Can both layers be motorized?
Yes. Both can be motorized and controlled from one remote or app.
Do dual shades fit inside the window frame?
Often, if the frame is deep enough. We measure depth at your consultation and recommend inside or outside mount.
Can I control motorized shades from my phone?
Yes. Add a smart hub and you can raise, lower, group, and schedule everything from an app on your phone, at home or away, and connect to popular voice assistants.
